Question: What does bruising on your feet mean?

An injury severe enough to damage a bone is also severe enough to break the blood vessels under the skin and cause bruising. Depending on where the injury is, you can experience bruising on the bottom of the foot. With a broken or fractured bone, youre also likely to experience pain, swelling, and perhaps even cuts.

What causes bruises to appear on your feet?

Most foot bruising is caused by a minor trauma or injury--from bumps, dropping something on your foot, scrapes, trips or falls, sports injuries, sprained ankles or even just walking, running or jumping on hard surfaces.

Why do I have purple bruises on my feet?

Some possible causes of foot discoloration include injuries, Raynauds disease, peripheral arterial disease, and frostbite. Skin can become blue or purple due to bruising, but this color change can also indicate that not enough oxygen-rich blood is reaching the area.
