Question: What is birds nest made of?

You might think that there must be some magical dried leaves and twigs in those nests to have such a power, but think again. T hese nests are actually made out of bird saliva, which has dried and hardened. Thats right; when youre eating a bowl of birds nest soup, youre having a bowl of spit (and other ingredients).

Why is bird nest so expensive?

And the main ingredient? The partially dissolved nest of a swiftlet, a small bird native to Southeast Asia. Three times a year, swiftlets build nests out of their sticky saliva on cave walls and cliff sides, where they raise their young. Its the high cost of these saliva nests that makes birds nest soup so expensive.

Is birds nest Heaty or cooling?

HOW TCM USES IT: Birds nest is classified as a neutral food that is neither heaty nor cooling. Its sweet flavour means it exhibits a nourishing property as well. It is said to move through the meridians of the lungs, stomach and kidneys. Meridians are channels in the body through which qi (vital energy) travels.

Will birds find their nest if you move it?

Surroundings. When a mother bird makes a nest, it is not just the nest that the bird gets used to but the surroundings of it as well. If you move the nest, the bird might not be able to find it because its surroundings are different.
