Some people eat all of the toppings first, but like Orkin, wed suggest going from bite to bite. After your first sip of the soup, go for a slurp of noodles, then try a bite of the toppings (individually or together), then sip some more soup, then slurp, and so on.

How is ramen supposed to be eaten?

The dish is meant to be eaten quickly. Ramen is best enjoyed hot, too, so theres no need to take your time with the dish. Plus, the longer it sits uneaten, the more the noodles soak up the soup. Dive in with your spoon and chopsticks and let the simmered goodness warm you right up.

Are you supposed to drink the broth in ramen?

Its totally OK to drink the broth from the bowl. Its considered a compliment to how good the broth is. But finish it at your own risk; those broths are flavor bombs, packed with sodium (see above). Another thing that is OK to do is to ask for extra noodles if youve finished the ones in your bowl.

Are you supposed to chew ramen noodles?

Thats because they dont chew. Real noodle connoisseurs know that the taste of the noodle is felt in the throat, not the tongue, so to appreciate the true flavor of noodles, you must swallow them whole. Eating noodles requires your full attention.

Is it rude to cut noodles?

That means that its customary to pick up your noodles with your chopsticks, but you should skip the elaborate twirling if you want to blend in. In China, you can absolutely go ahead and slurp your noodles, but beware of cutting them.

Is it OK to drink instant ramen soup?

Instant ramen packets are full of additives and preservatives, along with lots of sodium and sugar. Technically, there is nothing wrong with drinking instant ramen broth, as its completely digestible and safe but its not as tasty as fresh cooked ramen. Plus, if youre on a diet, you might want to skip the broth.

Is it OK to eat ramen at night?

Instant noodles arent healthy and have sodium, which may result in temporary water retention, but you need to eat. And, if youre in a foreign country at midnight, its probably best to eat it tonight and then just eat healthier tomorrow.
