Naoshima has two public ferry ports: Miyanoura and Honmura. Most tourists enter Naoshima through Miyanoura Port on the islands west coast. Miyanoura is served by ferries to/from Takamatsu, Uno and Inujima. The ferry terminal at Miyanoura Port serves as the information center and transportation hub of the island.
How do you get from Takamatsu to Naoshima?
Multiple ferries per day operate between Takamatsus ferry terminal (located next to Takamatsu Station) and Miyanoura Port in Naoshima. The one way trip takes about one hour and costs 520 yen. Some of the ferries are high speed ferries that take about 30 minutes but cost 1220 yen for the one way trip.

As for how long to stay, while visiting Naoshima as a day trip is possible, it would be quite rushed – so we typically recommend spending at least one or two nights on the island.
How do I get from Tokyo to Kyoto?
The most convenient way to get from Tokyo to Kyoto is the Shinkansen bullet train. Via the Nozomi train, the trip from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 2 hours and 20 minutes and costs 14,170 yen (as of July 2020). Shinkansen trains are quiet and shake very little, so you can sit peacefully and relax during your journey.
