Question: How long does it take to finish a good drawing?

Drawing well is a matter of developing your observational abilities, techniques, and self-assessment abilities. The basis to drawing well is making the firm commitment to the long-haul of it. You can get VERY good in two years with a clear path, excellent resources, and consistent work on the daily.

How long should a good drawing take?

You can get good at sketching or drawing by committing to doing 5 sketches a day, or for drawing at least a half-hour a day for 5 years. This is best accomplished if you draw from life, and learn the principles of drawing such as perspective, proportions, composition, and anatomy.

How long does it take to finish an artwork?

Usually, it takes 2-3 sittings before I experience that definitive moment of “its done.” Each sitting is approximately 3 hours. If the painting is small, I may be able to finish within 2 hours. Larger paintings take me longer. But, size isnt the only factor.

How long does it take to be a successful artist?

It will take between two and four years to become an artist. If you are completing a program at a college or university, the program will be two to four years before you earn your degree.
