How do you formulate grey coverage?
A great rule of thumb is to do a 50/50 mixture when covering gray hair. Thats 50 percent of your formula as a natural shade on the desired level, and 50 percent of a target or fashion shade.
How do I get the best grey coverage?
To enhance the color of hard-to-cover hair (such as coarse, gray hair), sparingly apply 20-volume developer onto the resistant area using a bowl and brush. Leave this on for 5 to 10 minutes while you are mixing your color. Dry the mixture into the hair, and then start your application process.
What developer is best for gray coverage?
We recommend you use 20 Vol developer for most grey hair coverage cases. If the hair is very very thick and resistant, or you are trying to lift the base by 2 or 3 levels, then you can use 30 Vol also.
How can I improve my GREY hair condition?
The best way to care for naturally grey hair is to use a specialised grey hair shampoo and conditioner, like our new Shimmering Silver Shampoo and Conditioner. This range, formulated with naturally grey hair in mind, smoothes and moisturises to transform dull, wiry strands into soft, shining grey locks.
Does gray hair hold color?
According to hair biology experts and styling experts alike, grey hair is more resistant to color than younger hair because of its texture. The relative lack of natural oils in the hair compared to younger hair make it a rougher surface that tends to reject the color being applied, especially around the roots.
